With the many different kinds of materials out there, there are so many choices for the perfect countertop. One of these options happens to be countertops made out of a type of high-pressure laminate. Produced by Trespa, these countertops are regarded by many as a nearly perfect choice. This is because there are absolutely no visible pores in the surface, meaning there is hardly a chance for any spills to cause any visible damage to it. After all, that means that there is not much room for liquids to pool in or any chances for icky bacteria to grow.
However, just because it is a great material does not mean that it is completely foolproof. While it is extremely durable, it can still be damaged due to heat, according to This Old House. Just like any other part of your home, it needs to be taken care of, too. Here are some tips on how to clean and take care of Trespa countertops.
1. Always Wipe Up Spills as Soon as You Can
Though Trespa countertops are usually resistant to liquids, it is still a good cleaning practice to never leave a spill unattended. This is especially true if you are dealing with a liquid that is potentially corrosive or could stain your countertop, ruining its beautiful finish.
2. Use Soft Materials When Cleaning It
While you might feel like you need extra cleaning power using the rough side of a sponge or other tool, this might work against your advantage. Abrasive tools can actually scratch up the surface of your countertop, especially if you start to rub vigorously.
3. Do Not Set Hot Pans Down on It
You might think that the countertop is invincible, but one of its weaknesses is heat. Unless you want a permanent scorch mark on the surface, don’t forget to set your hot pans down on heat-resistant material instead.
